Bart and Laurie met in college, they spent the following years raising 3 kids, and school teaching all over South Dakota– Bristol, Gettysburg, Sturgis and Rapid City before settling to Sioux Falls to be closer to family. They have 80+ years of combined music teaching experience and have former students who are teachers and performers themselves.

Laurie is an Aberdeen girl. After HS, she went right into Northern State University where she double-majored in vocal and instrumental music with piano being her main instrument. She has taught piano ever since, but for many of the ensuing years, also taught public school choir. She will focus on piano instruction now. She loves working with all ages, but prides herself on special success with elementary and intermediate levels.

Bart came from Gettysburg, South Dakota and met Laurie at Northern State. His main instrument was tuba! He has played keyboards in a rock band (recently inducted to the SD Rock and Roll Hall of Fame), worship settings, and accompanying while being either a band director or choir director. Bart teaches piano, guitar and bass guitar. He loves the opportunity to help high schoolers prepare to be college music majors.
You don’t know us yet, and we understand how much you care about the safety & success of your young musicians. To this end, we’re happy to welcome you into the home studio any time during the lesson time to watch the progress (with their permission… the tricky part!), and we video record every lesson so if there is a need to review anything, contact us. We believe 40 years of successful and happy students is testament to their safety and progress.
